The Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research (ABMR) was organized in 1978 at a meeting hosted by the Institute of Medicine of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Its founding formalized the birth of a new biobehavioral science applied to medicine.  The continuing mission of ABMR is to provide a forum for established scientists and thought leaders working in the field of behavioral medicine, where cutting-edge ideas can be exchanged in an informal, yet scientifically charged atmosphere.

The Center for Health and Community (CHC) aims to improve individual and population health through research and teaching addressing the social, behavioral and policy aspects of health and health care. Its unique structure supports and links faculty from all four Schools whose work addresses this wide range of determinants of health and also houses its own programs of research and education in focal areas.

The Network for Emotional Well-being: Science, Practice, and Measurement brings together leading experts from UCSF, UC Berkeley, and Harvard to create a cohesive transdisciplinary network of scientists interested in EWB. We are a collaborative initiative of research scientists funded by the National Institutes of Health to advance the scientific understanding and measurement of emotional well-being.​

The PsychoNeuroImmunology Research Society is an international organization for researchers in a number of scientific and medical disciplines including psychology, neurosciences, immunology, pharmacology, psychiatry, behavioral medicine, infectious diseases, endocrinology, and rheumatology, who are interested in interactions between the nervous system and the immune system, and the relationship between behavior and health.

SugarScience.ucsf.edu is designed as an authoritative source for the scientific evidence about sugar and its impact on health. Developed by a team of health scientists from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), the site reflects an exhaustive review of more than 8,000 scientific papers that have been published to date, with a focus on the areas where the science is strongest – specifically, on diabetes, heart disease and liver disease.

The Telomere Research Network is an NIA and NIEHS sponsored network dedicated to facilitating the collaboration between basic telomere biologists, population and exposure researchers, and other scientists across disciplines to advance interdisciplinary research on telomeres as sentinels of environmental exposure, psychosocial stress, and disease susceptibility.

The University of California San Francisco's Nutrition and Obesity Research Center (NORC) integrates multiple research programs in areas of nutrition, obesity and metabolism.

The Osher Center for Integrative Medicine is housed in the Osher Building, located on the UCSF Mount Zion Campus. The Osher Center also includes features not typically found in conventional medical clinics or academic institutions, such as large group rooms for yoga and meditation instruction, the Takahashi Japanese Healing Garden, and treatment rooms for acupuncture, massage therapy, biofeedback, and mind-body awareness.

The Stress Measurement Network’s mission is to better understand the relationship between stress and health by improving the measurement of psychological stress in research studies. The Network is made up of experts from around the world who have come together to debate, improve, and develop measures of psychosocial stress.
